Glasgow Kiss*
So it's official. I've accepted a job as an au pair (live-in nanny) in Glasgow, Scotland. I leave on September 1st and come back on December 22. I'm so excited!
The boy is 3, and the little girl is 15 months old. The family lives near the city center (or centre, rather). The mom is a classical violinist, and the dad is a BBC producer. Can't wait to meet 'em!
* A Glasgow Kiss is a headbutt, something I hope I don't experience while I'm there.

Congratulations, Lauren! Lexi told me this morning that you had semi-accepted. Cool!
Look out for the Glasgow Smile too.
Yeah, I really hope I don't experience the Glasgow Smile.
So, you do get some vacation time right? 'Cause I could very well meet you there and we could peruse Eruope...
I would very much like to peruse Europe with you, my dear. And I will have some weeks off, but I'm not sure when right now.
Where should we go? :)
solid! we gotta do a goodbye-for-now thing, eh? i'm outta town 8/19-8/26 but pretty free until then - lemme know what works for you, c-town.
Headbutts aren't too bad if you're wearing a helmet, have a metal plate, or you're a robot. Since I'm pretty sure that you don't have a metal plate in your head and you're not a robot, you might need a helmet. I know you're not a robot, because I am in fact an actual robot. Sent from the future to babysit humanity. I got bored with my mission and I decided to become a wannabe writer. It's more fun, and a better excuse to drink. People look at you funny when you say, "I like to drink 'cause I'm a robot. That's just the way I was programed in the future."
Ha -- how do you know I don't have a metal plate in my head? Or what if I am a robot, disguised as a human, sent from the future to babysit the other robots that were sent to babysit humanity?
That is so exciting! My cousin is au pairing (if that works) in Switzerland. She loves it and I am sure you will too!
You have to head butt when you in that country. It's tradition. When you meet someone new, be careful because it's gonna happen. Also, they shake hands with the left hand, so don't use your right hand or you'll really stupid. One more thing, they nod their heads as to say NO and shake their heads as to say YES. Just thought I'd fill you in.
Thanks, Blake. If I do all those things, maybe I won't look like a stupid American.
