I have given up reading music reviews. Just give me a star rating, who they sound like, and say yeah or neh and I'll be happy. Like you I find people trying to describe music pretencious and silly. Especially pitchfork. Yuk. Paste is tollerable for the most part.
Maybe it's because most bands that those magazines review sound the same?
Just a thought.
