Good ol' Sonny
This is pretty cool. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that he's up for re-election. Still. I like good ol' Sonny Perdue. (And c'mon, is that not one of the greatest Southern names ever?)

Hm. Although the governor wanted to reward Brookwood high school for it's efforts at discouraging underage drinking, I'm quite disappointed that he did so by throwing a $30,000 party funded by the state.
I hardly think a reward party will make teenagers change their minds about the choice to drink alcohol. It seems a little late to me. If you want to discourage drunkeness, start early. I don't know how, but I know that that's the most important thing.
Man. 30,000 dollars. That's a lot.
Yeah. You're right. $30,000 is a lot. Too much.
But, I have to add, they do start young -- remember McGruff the Crime Dog and all that stuff?
I don't think this party changed their minds. But it did keep them from drinking that night. Kept 'em off the streets, too. Sure, $30,000 could've been used more productively. But who knows how many lives were impacted because some drunken whippersnapper wasn't driving.

I'm just playing the devil's advocate. You know me.
Do schools even use McGruff anymore? I had forgotten all about him . . .
