Niiice.

Okay, I'm going to brag for a second. I totally didn't see this coming:

I PASSED FRENCH.

With a C. But nonetheless, I passed it. (I seriously think we all failed the final and he graded it on a HUGE curve.)

Suffice it to say, I'm starting over and taking Spanish I in the Fall.

(I also made 3 A's in all of my English classes. I'm pretty proud of myself. I mean, I took a two-year break from school, people.)

Ahhh. I can breathe easy now. I had been anticipating an F in French for two weeks.

I knew you would be okay -- You've been working hard this semester, and God rewards hard workers . . . :)

Rock on!

And Spanish is so much cooler than French.

Yey, you passed!! I'm sad you're giving up on French (which by the way is no less cool than Spanish...) and still would offer to help you out, but Spanish is a useful one to learn. Yey for being done with a semester of hard work and having gotten back good results!! Right on!!

Romance languages in order of coolness are as follows:

Spanish
Portugese
Italian
French
etc.

Sorry. It's a scientific fact. I saw it on "Nova." ;)

I don't know, man. I think it's:

Portugese
Italian
Spanish
French

(Yes, we all know why Portugese is first...)

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr--all for you, Ian! I will not have French disparaged!! I love it, though it sounds a bit like frog talk. Which other language has a very rule-oriented spelling system that uses about 50% more letters than you pronounce? Which other language has a special tense that nobody but lit majors ever learn? Isn't that pretty cool?

Yeah, it's so cool that that special tense gave me a C. Okay, it wasn't just that tense. It was all of them.

Wait -- why do we all know that Portuguese is the most romantic of the Romantic languages??? I don't know what you're alluding to. But mine would be a tie between Italian and Portuguese -- with the dialect from Portugal.

Although I will say that Spanish can be very nice . . . :)

Yeah, basically, I don't really "get into" French. Sorry, Yvonne. I just don't.

I will concede the awesomeness of Portugese. In truth I nearly put it at the top of the list, but I am (in this at least) a partisan.

Portugese certainly *can* be more romantic than Spanish, but that is almost entirely dependent on the speaker/reader/singer. I mean, people like Ute Lemper can make even GERMAN sound romantic...

Uh-oh. Yvonne's German. And Sara loves all things German. I'm afraid you opened a can of worms with that last comment, Ian. Or maybe not. Maybe they'll agree that it's not the sexiest... I do.

Portugese is, umm, "cool" because Portugese guys are "cool." C'mon, Sara. Think like Lauren -- everything is related to hot guys, remember? :) (Uhh. I feel like I shouldn't write that. Makes me look like a bimbo... Oh, well.)

And I actually was thinking of saying that Italiano and Portugese were tied, but something made me tip the scales.

Now that you have more time on your hands, can you email me that Luke Temple CD of yours?

Oh, whatever guys. I give up. French and German rule! You have no idea!!

German is great. It's just not always the most romantic and tender of languages.

(and I say that as one who spent a fair part of his youth among German-speakers)
