I had a dream this week in which I lived in a bleak shadow of the present world, and that one of my exes had become a rusalka.
I agree with your dream self.
What's a rusalka? One of those Russian doll things?
A rusalka is the spirit of a young woman who has drowned; she haunts the body of water where she died, luring people to her and then drowning them. She is driven by sorrow, resentment and envy, trying to deny people the life she never got to live.
Think of it like a Slavic combination banshee/siren.
